Social Sciences with Online Discussion

In a regular Social Sciences lessons in the 8^th grade we always start with an information about news and topics. The students prepare short presentation at home about recent news and also some discussion questions for their classmates. Nowadays we have to learn at home, so why don’t try to do this “Topic of the week” in digital form?

We decided to give it a try. We choose the topic ‘Corona and online schooling’ and made an audio presentation with some important information about online schooling in Germany and elsewhere. We uploaded our audio presentation onto the iserv Forum and posted the discussion question for our classmates, they could participate in the discussion online. Our question was „What do you think, should the possibility of participating in online education and homeschooling be a part of the schooling system in Germany?“ 

And it worked! You can see some impressions from our discussion in the word cloud we created. It is fun to try new digital ways in this otherwiese difficult situation.
